Digital radiography
2011 was revolutionary for our practice as we decided to switch over from analogue radiography to digital radiography. Our aim was to provide all our clients with quality treatment with low dose radiation exposure. At Family & Cosmetic Dentistry, radiographs are prescribed by the dentists as per individual needs.

Intra Oral Cameras
Use of technology has become part of day to day practice. We use intra oral cameras with high resolution and quality dental images in our practice. Intra oral cameras are very small cameras designed to take quality images of your mouth including gums, teeth, tongue to help us make a better diagnosis. The images can be viewed instantly on either a television or a computer monitor. Intra oral cameras help you in seeing an enlarged image and details and help in understanding the diagnosis and the treatment recommended for you. That means faster diagnosis and less chair-side time. The images can be emailed to insurance companies for easier and faster approvals.
Dental Cone Beam Computerized Tomography [3D X-rays]
Our latest addition to in-office technology is Cone Beam Computerized Tomography imaging which provides best-in-class cephalometric image quality with Ultra-high resolution and very low-dose radiation.
Dental CBCT images provide three-dimensional (3-D) information, rather than the two-dimensional (2-D) information provided by a conventional X-ray image. This may help with the diagnosis, treatment planning and evaluation of certain conditions. At our practice, this technology provides us with an ideal solution for single implant placements, as well as dental implant planning, root canal diagnosis, orthodontic evaluation, evaluation of jaws and face and diagnosis of dental trauma The actual CBCT scan takes approximately 20 seconds. The total appointment time (including positioning, scanning, reconstruction, and scan verification) is less than an hour. Some of the advantages of the CBCT are
Laser Assisted New Attachment Procedure (LANAP)
Commonly known as the LANAP protocol
A) Perio probe indicates excessive pocket depth
B) Laser radiation vaporizes bacteria, diseased tissue, pathologic proteins, and alerts the practitioner to the presence of tartar
C) Ultrasonic scaler and special hand instrument are used to remove root surface accretions
D) Laser finishes debriding pocket and aids in hemostasis
E) Reattachment of rete ridges to clean root surface, with a stable fibrin clot at the gingival crest to create a “closed system”
F) Occlusal trauma adjusted
G) New attachment Is regenerated
Oral cancer detection with Velscope! Everyday we hear about people dying of cancer. Oral cancer is one of the fastest growing cancers in the world today. The 5 year survival rate for oral cancer is much less when compared to the survival rates of cervical cancer, melanoma cancer and prostate cancer. The number of new cases and death due to oral cancer is predicted to be almost three times higher than that of cervical cancer and almost double the rates of liver cancer.(as in 2009) Earlier the perception was that people over the age of 45 are most at risk or only people who smoke or who drink a lot of alcohol or both are at risk of developing oral cancer.25 percent of oral cancers occurs in people who don’t smoke or drink alcohol. Today, oral cancer can occur at any age. The good news is that oral cancer can be treated successfully if caught early enough. To detect oral cancer in its early stage, having regular oral cancer screening done by a dental and/or health professional is important. We at Family & Cosmetic Dentistry, not only want to offer the best available treatment to our clients but also provide an opportunity aimed at a better well-being.That is what motivated us to introduce Velscope into our practice. It does not diagnose cancer, but is an adjunct to the oral examination to help detect abnormalities in your mouth. Velscope oral cancer screening takes about 5 minutes to perform. It’s comfortable, completely non-invasive and pain-free. We simply flash a special blue light into your mouth that helps highlight any cells that may be abnormal or different compared to the normal soft tissues. Mouth is often the most neglected part of your body. Always remember, If you notice white or dark red patches in any part of your mouth, lumps or other changes in texture, numbness, patches that don’t go away in 2 weeks, or find that you have difficulty swallowing or notice changes in taste, call your dentist right away! Have you had an oral cancer screening before ? If not, call us to book an appointment today!
Email Appointment Reminders
You can now rest assured that you will not miss your appointment since we send you reminders directly to your email. Make sure your email address is updated in our database!

Electronic Claim Submission
We do electronic claim submission of your dental insurance. This can ensure a speedy process and get your benefits paid much faster. Dental insurance is benefits made available from your employer. They cover a portion of your dental treatment and are not supposed to cover your entire treatment cost. If and when you have dental benefits, try to make the most of it. Dental benefits have deadlines and if you do not use it, the benefits will expire.
